MAPP Career-Education
QuickStart

Welcome to MAPP, the Motivational Appraisal of Personal Potential that takes career education into the 21st Century. This exciting, interactive way to search for a satisfying, rewarding career centers on a 71-question assessment that takes about 25 minutes to complete on-line. Results are processed immediately, providing instant feedback on each individual’s potential and motivation for given areas of work. MAPP’s sophisticated technology does this by comparing individual assessment results with those of established workers who are happy and successful in their chosen occupations.

One important point to keep in mind before you begin: MAPP measures motivation – not ability. Look at the distinction this way: if you are naturally right-handed, you are more motivated to write with your right hand than with your left. Writing with your natural hand does not guarantee excellent penmanship any more than writing with your alternate hand guarantees sloppy writing. In fact, you may be highly skilled at writing with either hand, or you may not be proficient with either hand. Likewise, MAPP does not tell you what you are or are not skilled at doing. Rather, it helps you understand what you prefer to do by measuring your motivation to perform certain tasks and activities - referred to throughout MAPP as worker traits.

Although MAPP has applications well beyond career education, including an educational analysis that helps identify individual learning styles, this QuickStart training focuses on the basics of the career-education component. By investing about an hour now, you’ll be able to help your students take the MAPP assessment, read and interpret their individual results, and learn how to use those results to identify and research potential careers.

The QuickStart training has four components:

Part I:
